Mam, as usual, was right.
She may have nagged you to do it all throughout your childhood, but it turns out that making your bed is the one simple task you can do every morning if you want to be a success in life.
No, there are no magic powers in you 800-thread count sheets. But according to experts, by taking care of this one chore, you set yourself up for other productive habits throughout the day.
Charles Duhigg explained it in his book, “The Power of Habit,” writing that “making your bed every morning is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of well-being and stronger skills at sticking with a budget.”
He called bed-making a “keystone habit,” which is something that starts other good behavior.
He’s not the only one; Navy SEAL William H. McCraven, in his 2014 commencement speech at the University of Texas, told graduates, “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.

If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another.”
And while you may not need to make it to military specifications (which traditionally suggest you should be able to bounce a coin off the tight top sheet), it sure will make mom happy.
So make your bed!
